Thanks for purchasing Empire Master. You should get many hours of entertainment from this game.
Installation
• Delete any old EM Settings or EB Settings file from your system folder.
• Copy the compactor™ archives onto your hard disk and double click to expand them. You do not need the demo version, but you can give coies of it to other people.
• Make sure that any rules file you want to use is in the same folder as the Empire Master™ program itself.
New Features
As the game starts up it will warn you if the selected rule set includes units that are not properly understood by the machine strategy. When playing against another person this is annoying. The Suppress Rule Warnings check box in the general options panel can be used to eliminate this.
The Option-E folder contains a keyboard layout (KCHR resource) that you may find ueful if you are using system 7. This keyboard layout will eliminate the "dead keys" which are used to type foreign accents. See the ReadMe document in that folder for more information.
Errata
The manual does not describe the "Known World" option in the game parameters dialog. This option, when selected, makes all squares on the map visible to both players when the game begins. Enemy units must still be found of course. Normally "Unexplored world" is selected. In this normal mode, you won't know where land, sea and cities are until one of your units explores the square.
Known Bugs
• If the game runs out of memory it will sometimes crash.
• Empire Master does not check for and resolve aliases. If you use system 7, then don't make aliases for the EM Settings file or a rules file. Aliases of saved games should be OK.
